In a star-studded gala, pianist Lang Lang joins conductor Andris Nelson and the exceptional Leipzig Gewandhausorchester to celebrate Beethoven’s anniversary year together. In honour of the grand master of Viennese Classicism, the orchestra is travelling all the way from their beloved Gewandhaus to perform at the Elbphilharmonie. Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto and Seventh Symphony are undoubtedly two of his most beautiful works. The opening bars of the piano concerto alone are enough to melt your heart and fill your soul as you are drawn into an intimately lyrical soundscape. From exquisite pianistic poetry to the Seventh Symphony is an effortless transition. Lang Lang and the Gewandhausorchester take the opportunity to demonstrate just how gorgeous this delightful music can sound in expert hands.
