This concert features true legends. Sir András Schiff and Evgeny Kissin, who is just under 20 years his junior, have both reigned at the very pinnacle of the piano world for decades. In this ProArte concert at the Elbphilharmonie, these masters of the piano art form come together for a musical dialogue. Outstanding technique, profound interpretative seriousness, incomparable beauty of sound – these are the traits their art shares. Affected pathos and grand gestures are alien to them; they rely entirely on the power of the works they present. The programme features classics of the duo repertoire such as Mozart’s delicate Sonata in D major and Dvořák’s spirited Slavonic Dances, as well as rarer gems by Robert Schumann. The predicted highlight of the concert, however, could well be Smetana’s famous »Moldau« in the version for two pianos!
