The Village

The colorful village in the village. A nice, alternative oasis in middle-class Niendorf. Art hangs on the walls, small snacks are served on the plates, tasty drinks in the glasses and a diverse program of music and culture on the stage.

Sometimes a place develops out of unwanted vacancy, quite unplanned, that within a short time is unthinkable to leave. The culture bar and gallery The Village is such a place. It developed from a temporary pop-up gallery, in which artworks by local and refugee artists were shown and art courses held.

Well, the artists liked having a creative space, the people loved the art courses and the landlord liked the hustle and bustle in the empty room. So there had to be an idea and a few brave people who had to develop a way of staying together and, above all, implement it.

What goes better with art than wine and good food? Together with the artist collective pARTofUs, their own family and countless friends, the founders used the Corona time to convert the empty space into a cute art bar with gastronomy.

Since July 2021, The Village has now been open as a gastronomic culture bar. From Tuesday to Saturday, visitors can sample cakes and cafés, crémant, wine, cocktails, quesadillas, tostadas, bowls, soups and changing stews. Tastes here range from vegan to meaty, European to Mexican, and always with a dash of "just try it." Wednesday through Friday there's a healthy lunch special, and from 5-7 p.m. happy hour beckons.

Culturally, The Village offers a lot that fills the district with life. There are monthly fixed events such as the Open Mic, the Pub Quiz, wild bingo evenings and the 120 Minute Disco. Art continues to take center stage. In addition to monthly changing exhibitions, art classes for all ages, open painting nights, pART Nights and various workshops are offered in the Village.
