Fischereihafen Restaurant

Here everything revolves around fish

The Fischereihafen Restaurant is Hamburg's first address for fish lovers.

The Fischereihafen is a safe bet in every regard – here, you can enjoy a romantic tête-à-tête or take your in-laws as well as a business partner without hesitation.

The location itself is a dream: if you manage to get one of the desired window seats, you can dine with a wonderful view of the Hamburg harbour – especially in the evenings, the guests are treated to an atmospheric panorama. But also in culinary terms, the Fischereihafen is one of the city’s best addresses: Since 1981, the Kowalke family has been host to a mixed crowd of young fish lovers, Hanseatic haute volée and tourists, with a large selection of excellent specialities.

Right from the start, the guest has agony of choices: should I order an appetizing aperitif in the intimate Oyster Bar, or should I be taken to my table straight away by one of the numerous, friendly service staff? Whatever you choose, a feeling of wellbeing will set in very quickly – because the rustic lighting, the dark furniture and the elegantly laid tables create a very special atmosphere.

The focus of the restaurant is on fish dishes. Here, the menu concentrates on traditional and sophisticated dishes such as eel soup, lobscouse, trout or lobster, but also on modern dishes like sashimi or gambas with red wine-chilli dip and glass noodle salad. The quality of all the food is excellent, the fish steamed à point, and portions pleasantly generous, despite the high culinary level.

In addition to a fitting wine menu, the Fischereihafen also offers a good selection of beer – where else would you get such a well-pulled Kräusen draught beer? The non-fish eaters are also catered for: the meat dishes, such as Wiener schnitzel or rib-eye steak, are more than just token dishes, and are also of the highest quality.

Not least, the equally down-to-earth and friendly service should be emphasized: whether you are dressed in a three-piece suit or in jeans and sweater, you are given a warm welcome. Our conclusion: the Fischereihafen is a safe bet in all regards - here, you can enjoy a romantic tête-à-tête, or take your in-laws or a business partner without hesitation.
