Hamburger Ballett-Tage
A Celebration of Dance Diversity
Whether driven by curiosity or passion – the Hamburg Ballet Days offer spectacular stage moments for anyone inspired by art and movement. Two weeks full of dance, emotion and elegance.
Every summer, the Hamburg Ballet Days turn the city into a global centre for the art of dance. With premieres, celebrated classics and emerging talent, the festival showcases the full spectrum of the Hamburg Ballet – moving, diverse and of the highest artistic calibre.
For over five decades, the Ballet Days have marked the grand finale of the season. In just two weeks, the festival unites the artistic variety of the Hamburg Ballet – featuring acclaimed works by John Neumeier, exciting new productions and international guest performances. The 50th edition opens on 6 July 2025 with Neumeier’s poetic classic ‘The Little Mermaid’. Other highlights include ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Nijinsky’ and ‘Death in Venice’. The premieres ‘THE TIMES ARE RACING’ and ‘SLOW BURN’ bring fresh choreographic voices to the stage – stylistically varied and bursting with energy.
A special highlight for families is ‘First Steps’, a charming showcase by the students of the Hamburg Ballet School. International flair comes from the Spanish company La Veronal with ‘Sonoma’, and from Friedemann Vogel’s powerful solo performance ‘The Soul on a String’. The traditional finale is the festive Nijinsky Gala, bringing the season to a close on 20 July.

Many of the Hamburg Ballet’s productions are also staged during the regular season at the Hamburg State Opera – well worth a visit any time of year, not just in summer.
