QUEERHISTORYMONTH
QueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1st to 31st, 2026 (www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events within the festival will bring the history (and stories) of the queer community in Hamburg to life. Everyone is welcome – Kings, Quings, Queens, Allies, Friends, (chosen) Families, and everyone in between and beyond!
Event
A film night with queer history: Pink Channel presents moving clips from Hamburg's community. Klaus-Dieter Begemann guides you through five thematic sections – from politics and culture to drag. Personal, lively, and current.
In this special event, Klaus-Dieter Begemann presents a selection of his most compelling Pink Channel contributions – entertaining, moving, and always close to the action. A cinematic evening poised between archive and present, between memory and visibility – vibrant, engaging, and full of queer perspectives on Hamburg's history.
The Pink Channel is a well-established force in queer media in Hamburg. With a keen sense for social developments, a strong political stance, and a perspective rooted in the community, videographer Klaus-Dieter Begemann documents queer life in the city – now also with numerous videos on YouTube. His clips tell of moving moments: political struggles, personal stories, and pop-cultural highlights.
A curated selection of Pink Channel content will be shown. Five thematic sections will cover literature and readings, the path to "marriage for all", defining stage moments surrounding Corny Littmann, the Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, and drag and performance culture in the 21st century.
The clips shown reflect not only the diversity of the Hamburg scene, but also the power of queer visibility.
