Following the great success of »Der nasse Fisch – Eine musikalische Lesung«, Moka Efti Orchestra and Benno Fürmann embark on a new chapter. »Der Vorhang fällt« is another striking stage project inspired by the fictional worlds of Volker Kutscher, this time based on the novel »Märzgefallene«.
Premiering at Munich’s Prinzregententheater in March 2027, the production takes audiences back to the dramatic upheavals of the early 1930s. While »Der nasse Fisch« captured the dazzling, vibrant world of the late Weimar Republic, »Der Vorhang fällt« turns its gaze to its final days – to the moment when lightness and freedom give way to a new and threatening reality.
Musically, Moka Efti Orchestra builds on its distinctive style while expanding it with new pieces composed especially for the project. This new music adds depth to the production and opens up fresh sonic perspectives – ranging from jazz and chanson to powerful orchestral passages, at times dark and driving, at others fragile and haunting.
Once again, Benno Fürmann takes on the central role as narrator and voice of the characters – intense, nuanced and intimately connected to the action.
»Der Vorhang fällt« brings literature and music together in an atmospheric and immersive whole. At its heart is the question of how people respond to social change – and what choices they make when the world around them changes irrevocably.
