The EU-LAC Foundation, in collaboration with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, invites you to the festive opening concert of the 2026 Latin America and Caribbean Autumn Festival. The festival aims to serve as a cultural bridge between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The concert takes the audience on a musical journey through the diverse soundscapes of Latin America. Leading artists from several countries across the continent come together in a programme that blends classical music, folk music, jazz and popular traditions. Works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Alberto Ginastera, Carlos Gardel, Chabuca Granda and Paquito D’Rivera are juxtaposed with traditional music from Venezuela and Paraguay, as well as the timeless art of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Five outstansing musicians from Bolivia, Spain, Paraguay, Venezuela and France: Venezuelan-Spanish flautist and composer Omar Acosta, twice nominated for a Latin Grammy; Bolivian pianist José Navarro-Silberstein, whose debut album Vibrant Rhythms received the Supersonic Award; Spanish double bassist Javier Colina, who, among other projects, performed on the album Lágrimas Negras by Bebo Valdés and Diego El Cigala; French-Venezuelan cuatro player Marcel Montcourt, leader of the Autana Trío in Valencia and an artistic collaborator of Paquito D’Rivera and Carlos Vives; and Paraguayan harpist Alberto Sánchez, the winner of the “Oscar al Folklore” award in Gorizia.

The result is a multifaceted panorama of musical cultures that speaks of shared roots, vibrant exchange and great stylistic diversity. The concert exemplifies the dialogue between the regions and the cultural diversity that the Latin America and Caribbean Autumn Festival brings to Hamburg every year. As the festival’s festive opening event, this evening sends a musical message of encounter, understanding and the close ties between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.
