Following their major 50th anniversary in 2025 and their extensive, equally successful tour in 2026, Karat is gearing up for its next big milestone: Claudius Dreilich (vocals), Bernd Römer (guitar), Martin Becker (keyboards), Daniel Bätge (bass), and Heiko Jung (drums) will celebrate »45 Years of Der blaue Planet« in 2027. They’re using this as an opportunity to put their masterpiece front and center on their 2027 tour.

When »Der blaue Planet« was released in 1982, KARAT were in their seventh year of existence; with songs like »König der Welt,« »Schwanenkönig,« and »Über sieben Brücken musst du gehn,« they had long since established several classics in their repertoire. But with the album »Der blaue Planet,« Karat reached an even higher level of quality. It became the most successful Amiga LP in the rock/pop segment and was the first album by an East German band to go gold in West Germany. It even reached the Top 10 and remained on the charts for 48 weeks.

Today, »Der blaue Planet« is considered a timeless cult album; songs like »Jede Stunde,« »Blumen aus Eis,« »Falscher Glanz,« »Marionetten,« and of course »Der blaue Planet« have a permanent place in the history of German-language pop music. Karat are looking forward to honoring these songs as part of »45 Years of Der blaue Planet,« but anyone familiar with the band knows that the many other emotional highlights of their long-standing career will not be neglected either.
