»Being on stage is exactly my thing,« says Benjamin Asare, »that’s the moment when I feel free.« The Hamburg native has partied his way across the country on stage alongside Peter Fox, as well as writing songs for some of the biggest stars, from Helene Fischer to Disarstar. With his solo project BENSH47, he has now finally found his true calling. Asare combines the universal power of a good song with a unique sound that blends Afrobeats, R’n’B and pop.
Raised in Lurup in the north-west of Hamburg, music has always been a constant companion for Asare: his voice reflects both spirituality and the streets, shaped by his roots in a Ghanaian church choir and his love of hip-hop. Before finding his own artistic path, he worked in just about every role imaginable in a recording studio. How compelling the result sounds can now also be heard at the Elbphilharmonie, including songs from his latest EP »Small Love«.
