Hamburg’s largest open reading stage moves to Haus73!
From the meadow to the cozy bar – the Wortwirbel reading stage is taking the next step! What began on an astra box stage and a few picnic blankets has evolved into Hamburg's largest open reading stage, providing over 25 performers and 800+ listeners with a diverse evening. And now it's off to the cozy indoor ambiance of Haus73.
An evening like a literary grab bag awaits you
Short stories meet poetry, comic readings, and experimental texts. Here, Hamburg authors, slammers, comedians, comic artists, and other emerging talents from the scene read their favorite works—some tried-and-tested, others fresh off the press—and it's precisely this mix that makes each evening unique.
A program as diverse as the people who create it: from thoughtful everyday observations to twisted fantasy worlds, from romantic moments to socially critical reflections – the range knows no bounds. Comics are brought to life with voices as PowerPoint presentations, and poems and stories take you on unexpected journeys.
This isn't a poetry slam! There's no scoring, and the short slam time limit is a thing of the past! Instead, readers have up to 10 minutes to present their texts—perfect for pieces that don't fit into slams. But don't worry, you won't be reading for hours from dusty novels. The atmosphere is relaxed, and every text gets the space it deserves.
Finally indoors: At Haus73, you'll find not only our literary entertainment, but also a cozy bar with refreshing drinks. And all this in a truly central location in Hamburg.
