"Simply a dream... Music full of intricate beauty!" - BR Klassik
Two outstanding voices of young European jazz – the Mongolian pianist and composer Shuteen Erdenebaatar and the German bassist and clarinetist Nils Kugelmann – invite you to an extraordinary musical journey with their new program “Under the Same Stars”.
What began as a personal encounter has blossomed into a profound musical dialogue between two souls: Shuteen's hypnotically luminous piano playing meets the mysterious timbres of Kugelmann's contralto clarinet – a rare instrument that becomes the radiant centerpiece here. Together they create a soundscape that unites jazz, classical music, and film scores, weaving together their individual stories, cultures, and love of music in a unique way: a poetic, captivating sonic journey that touches the soul.
Both have established themselves as influential figures of a new generation in recent years. Shuteen Erdenebaatar, born in Mongolia, has lived in Germany since 2018. She has received numerous awards, including the German Jazz Prize and the highest cultural prize in her home country. Nils Kugelmann, an ACT artist and also a multi-award winner, is known for his work with his own trio and his distinctive style as a composer.
This creates music that doesn't need to be loud to say a lot – characterized by mutual trust, a fine sense of feeling, and an intimacy that extends beyond the purely musical. The intensity of their interplay reveals how deeply their lives, their sonic visions, and their affection for one another have become intertwined.
