In May 2026, the Norderstedt Symphonic Wind Orchestra (SBN) invites you to its spring concert in the Great Hall of the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. Under the baton of Bernhard Volk, the approximately 70 musicians will present a varied programme showcasing the full range of symphonic wind music – from classically inspired fanfares to film music and narrative soundscapes.
The programme includes Aaron Copland’s impressive »Fanfare for the Common Man«, Bert Appermont’s »Saga Candida«, Óscar Navarro’s expressive clarinet concerto, as well as music from Johan de Meij’s »The Lord of the Rings«, Jan Van der Roost’s »Spartacus« and Patrick Doyle’s »Henry V«. The Norderstedt Symphonic Wind Orchestra stands for precise ensemble playing, musical diversity and carefully selected programmes. At the 2025 German Orchestra Competition in Mainz and Wiesbaden, the SBN achieved an excellent fourth place in the highest category, making it one of the best German wind orchestras in the amateur sector.
