When music tells stories, it turns into a special concert morning. With its autumn matinee, the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Norderstedt invites you to dive into fantastic soundscapes – including the rousing film music from »How to Train Your Dragon« by John Powell, one of the most beloved animated adventures of recent years.

The story of young Viking Hiccup and his dragon Toothless captivates both young and older audiences alike. With the new live-action adaptation released in cinemas this year, it’s once again in the spotlight — and its music continues to fascinate with its emotional power.

A very different sound awaits the audience with Percy Grainger’s »Lincolnshire Posy«. This classic of wind band literature is based on traditional English folk songs that Grainger collected from oral sources in the early 20th century. In six musical miniatures, it paints a varied portrait of rural tales – sometimes cheerful, sometimes calm, sometimes spirited. Other highlights in the program include Joe Hisaishi’s »Howl’s Moving Castle«, Thomas Bergersen’s »Flight of the Silverbird«, and Edward Gregson’s »Festivo«.
