Was spricht die Natur?

This year’s international NATURE WRITING FESTIVAL concludes with an exciting and varied evening:

Robin Wall Kimmerer – On an Understanding of Nature. With Lann Hornscheidt and Helmut Schreier.

The American Robin Wall Kimmerer is an icon of nature writing. Her book "Braided Sweetgrass" has been a consistent New York Times bestseller since 2020. Kimmerer interweaves indigenous wisdom and scientific insights about the bounty of the Earth. For many authors, she serves as a guide for their own writing. Lann Hornscheidt's definition of aliveness and living beings is also rooted in Kimmerer's tradition. For natural philosopher Helmut Schreier, Kimmerer is also a central figure. Together, Hornscheidt and Schreier engage in a dialogue about perspectives, insights, and the person of Robin Wall Kimmerer.

Publishing books about nature – Nature Writing. With Lars Fischer, Kristin Gora, Lann Hornscheidt, and Klaas Jarchow.

There are many different ways of publishing books about nature – Lars Fischer does so with Aufland Verlag on the Oder River; Kristin Gora is an editor at Katapult Verlag in Greifswald; Lann Hornscheidt established the publishing house w_orten & meer on Hiddensee; and Klaas Jarchow publishes European Essays on Nature and Landscape in Hamburg. Led by Reinhard Kahl, all four discuss their methods, intentions, and possibilities for publishing books about nature in very different ways.

CODA – Music and final words for the Nature Writing Festival
The festival will conclude after the two roundtable discussions in an open format with those who followed the festival or contributed to it. Details on this closing event will be announced later.

Reinhard Kahl will host the evening’s program.

The event takes place as part of the Nature Writing Festival Hamburg 2025.
