In 2025 »Waltz King« Johann Strauss II would have celebrated his 200th birthday – and this must of course be celebrated in style outside his native Vienna as well. The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra dedicates its New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day concerts to the man with the seemingly inexhaustible imagination. The North German orchestra thus follows the Viennese tradition of ringing in the New Year with a fireworks display of operetta melodies, waltzes and polkas.
