based on the novel by Herman Melville /

in an adaptation by Antú Romero Nunes and Sandra Küpper

“ …the great flood-gates of the wonder-world swung open, and in the wild conceits that swayed me to my purpose, two and two there floated into my inmost soul, endless processions of the whale, and, mid most of them all, one grand hooded phantom, like a snow hill in the air.”

It is Ismael who, with these words, takes us on an incredible journey to the ends of the earth. The search for a home in the midst of homelessness and for a reason beneath the abyss drives the men under Captain Ahab’s leadership on, to go forth, sailing the great themes of our existence, driving evil from the world and shattering the masks which obscure. In Melvilles genre-bending novel, in the description of man and beast, of humankind and nature, of Ahab who, having being struck by destiny when he lost his leg in a battle with the white whale, is reflected man’s anger at hisown destiny and his grim battle for dignity. Inspired by the Old Testament, by the works of William Shakespeare and the events of his own era, Herman Melville writes this unsettling novel in 1851, ahead of its time. Antú Romero Nunes (“Don Giovanni. Final Party”), together with his talented all-male ensemble will be setting sail to transform the original into a theatrical adventure, a journey into the beyond - and into the innermost self.
