Five men in their prime, most of them unemployed, are astonished when their wives spend huge sums of money one evening on tickets to a male strip show. Then they come up with a crazy idea: Why not put on a show themselves as male strippers and make money from it?
The crazy idea turns into a plan, but the path to the show is anything but straightforward. None of the no-longer-young men have any stage experience, let alone dance skills. Suddenly, they doubt their own bodies – aren't they too old, too fat, too short, too skinny? In addition to prejudices and fears of failure, each of them also struggles with one or another burden in everyday life.
Sounds like a drama? Far from it! Despite this difficult starting point, the play is brimming with optimism and positivity. Naturally, the initial clumsy attempts and the inevitable mishaps are laugh-out-loud. But the dialogue is clever, the characters multifaceted, so that while the play is definitely laugh-out-loud, it's never ridiculous.
And of course, the audience is left wondering until the end: will they actually go through with it and let all their clothes fall off at the end of the show?
LADIES' NIGHT is a charming and wonderfully funny story full of heart. It celebrates values like self-love, courage, and community—we could all use a little more of those!
