Growing up in the 1980s in the middle of nowhere in the Weserbergland region, Jimmy was easily and quickly influenced by legends such as Richie Havens, John Lee Hooker, Dion, Chuck Berry, Elvis or Johnny Cash.

His artistic career really took off in the early 1990s after moving to Hamburg. As a member of various bands, but especially as a solo artist, he quickly became well-known far beyond the city limits. In 2007, his solo debut, Rhythm Of Hells – Songs Of Angels History, was released, in which Cornett set the shared history of the Hells Angels with music legends such as Janis Joplin, the Rolling Stones, Jerry Garcia, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams to music. In 2010, he filmed a video for the title track of the Deadmen debut album, Raise The Dust, in the Pyrenees. The following year saw the release of his solo EP, California Session, which also featured the nephew of actress Julia Roberts—another prime example of the international scope of his music.
