To mark the 60th anniversary of the Chorknaben Uetersen, the Hamburg Orchestra Community and the University of Hamburg Alumni Choir are presenting a musical highlight with the Chorknaben Uetersen: Joseph Haydn’s oratorio »The Seasons«.

Joseph Haydn’s »The Seasons« is one of the most important oratorios in the history of music – an early work that displays astonishing freshness and narrative power. First performed in Vienna in 1801, it met the taste of the time and at the same time surprised with its secular, naturalistic character. Unlike traditional oratorios, this work does not focus on biblical events, but on rural life in the rhythm of the seasons.

The Hamburger Orchestergemeinschaft e.V., founded in 1904, is the oldest amateur symphony orchestra in Hamburg. It consists of ambitious amateur musicians and regularly performs large orchestral works, usually with two concerts a year in the Laeiszhalle. The Chorknaben Uetersen, a traditional boys’ choir from Schleswig-Holstein, was founded in 1965 and is known for its diverse concerts and international appearances. They have been under the direction of Felix Renner since 2023. The Alumni Choir of the University of Hamburg was founded in 2014 and comprises around 50 singers. This choir also sings a broad repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary choral music and is also directed by Felix Renner.
