In the summer of 2016, Sebastian Knauer, Martin Tingvall, Joja Wendt, and Axel Zwingenberger played together for the first time in Hamburg – and since then, they have performed there almost every year in a joint concert at the Hamburg State Opera or the Elbphilharmonie. To mark the anniversary, the four pianists are reuniting and presenting their program full of surprises and musical colors for the first time on a major tour of Germany.
The four pianists’ different musical backgrounds come together in an original program. Each pianist is given their own space, but unusual pairs also come together at the piano: the classical virtuoso plays with the boogie-woogie master, the jazz pianist leads into the blues with colorful harmonies, and together they create an improvisation. Sometimes the piano becomes four-handed – and with two grand pianos on stage, played by eight hands, the pianists take turns during the piece and give up the
piano bench for the next one: a unique concert experience.
