FILMRISS - Rock with German lyrics

The band FILMRISS was founded in November 1985 by four school friends, initially as a four-piece band (guitar/vocals, drums, guitar, and keys). Founding members Gerhard Habedank (guitar), Lorenz Burchardt (keys), and Carsten Burchardt (drums) are still with the band today. Even back then, there was no discussion about the musical direction. A shared love of 70s/80s rock/hard rock, an admiration for prog rock, and the highest priority given to melody, coupled with the realization that one can best express oneself in one's native language, were early characteristics of the typical FILMRISS sound that continues to this day. Classics like "Südseite" and "Brief an Dich" emerged early on and remain integral parts of the live setlist to this day.

After adding a lead singer in 1991, their first output saw the light of day in 1993. FILMRISS, released in the then-common cassette demo format, contained six songs and led to an increased live presence. After current lead singer Torsten Behnke switched from the mixing desk to the microphone in the spring of 1995, the band released their first CD, "In dieser Zeit," which sparked serious concert activity and resulted in appearances in all the well-known Hamburg clubs such as "Knust," "Logo," and "Rieckhof." "In dieser Zeit" also includes several live standards that are still played today ("Hinterher," "Gescheitelte Existenzen").

FILMRISS also founded the band's own open-air concert, "Buden-Air," which was held from 1999 to 2007 on the grounds of the HM Club "Tipsy Apes" in Harburg. Arguably their most ambitious album to date, "Auf der Flucht," appeared in the fall of 1998. It followed a lyrical concept and was released in October 1998 at the sold-out "Knust" venue. "Kugel durch den Kopf," "Urbi et Orbi," and "Ciao Bella" are still played at every concert today. The first "real" line-up change took place in 2000. Due to professional reasons, the original bassist had to leave Hamburg, and FILMRISS had to go through their first auditions.

We had musicians play... We...!!! But the solution was quickly found.

It worked for 14 years, produced the album "Stille Wasser" (Still Waters), which was recorded in their own studio, as well as songs that are still played today, such as "Auf Wiedersehen", "Feuervogel" and many others, as well as a radio appearance on "ZUSA-Radio" in 2010. The last and third line-up change came in 2014 when the current bassist Frank "Willi" Willhausen found his way to FILMRISS and has kept the current line-up stable for 11 years, leading us into our fourth decade together. But most importantly: friendship, similar musical tastes, accepting each other's passions, having to find a new bassist every 14 years and being a team player.

Then it will work out with the 40 years. :)

Line-up:
Torsten Behnke vocals
Carsten Burchardt Drums
Lorenz Burchardt Keyboards
Gerhard Habedank guitar
Frank Willhausen Bass
