Courageous, innovative and firmly rooted in the social and political challenges of the present day, the Ukrainian music scene has been a driving force in contemporary art for many years. In its concert, the Senza Sforzando ensemble presents exciting contemporary music by Ukrainian composers.
Since 2001, the ensemble, together with its founder, conductor and pianist Oleksandr Perepelytsia, has been constantly on the lookout for new trends in music. Every year, the ensemble develops a new programme for the legendary festival »Two Days and Two Nights of New Music« in Odessa. At the Elbphilharmonie, the musicians will now present a selection from previous festival programmes, which they see as an acoustic laboratory – a space for experimentation, avant-garde trends and critical reflection on music.
The members of Senza Sforzando do not shy away from the big issues of our time: from war and questions of identity to cultural developments – their concerts offer more than just innovative music. In order to meet these challenges and reflect a wide variety of perspectives, new musicians are constantly joining the ensemble, providing it with fresh impetus.
