Dorsaf Hamdani is considered one of Tunisia’s greatest voices. She has sung classical Arabic-Andalusian music at the Cairo Opera House, but has also worked with no less passion with musicians from different genres. Above all, she sets store by passing on the cultural influences behind her own vocal art – these include, in particular, the great singers of the Middle East: Umm Kulthum from Egypt, Asmahan from Syria and Fairuz from Lebanon. Hamdani dedicated a very personal album to these three icons in 2011, which she now translates into a concert programme.
