Coumba Samba: deutschland

Coumba Samba works in sculpture, installation, music, and performance. Her work reflects the circulation of objects, material and ideologies, where she examines how power is inscribed in knowledge, institutions, signs, and colours by interrogating their circulation and preservation on the basis of globalised infrastructure.

Samba will develop a new, expansive installation for the Kunstverein in Hamburg, which simultaneously links and scrutinises the rigid geometry and opaque movement patterns of global trade. Using modular architecture, Samba interweaves the history of abstract painting and the grid with global supply chains and their increasingly expanding imprint on lived experience.
