Circular Talks – Leihen statt kaufen

Why let a drill gather dust in a cupboard when you only need it once a year? Why own your own surfboard when the next trip to the sea is months away? In a world where resources are becoming scarcer and space in our homes isn't increasing, sharing things is becoming a smart alternative: ecologically sensible, economically attractive—and often even socially enriching.
In this Circular Talk, we explore the concept of the Library of Things: places and platforms where objects are shared rather than purchased individually. We demonstrate how this model not only changes consumer behavior but can also make cities more livable and sustainable.
Three exciting panel guests with different business models provide insights into their practice and discuss how renting instead of buying works in reality – from locally initiated exchange systems to professionally operated lending platforms.
• How does renting instead of buying work in practice?
• What business models are behind it?
• And how do we create trust in shared things?
Three speakers will provide insights into their projects – from local exchange initiatives to digital platforms.
