The new generation of musicians comes together on stage here: alongside the German National Youth Orchestra, Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili and conductor Aurel Dawidiuk from Germany will also be performing. Both artists have paved their way to becoming absolute top stars in recent years.

Pianist, organist, conductor – Aurel Dawidiuk from Hanover simply cannot decide which field to focus on. Consequently, he performs in all three, although he will be sticking to conducting for his concert at the Elbphilharmonie.

Gigashvili was named Rising Star by the European Concert Hall Organisation in the 2025/26 season and was invited to perform in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls. Pianist, organist, conductor – Aurel Dawidiuk from Hanover cannot decide which field to pursue. Consequently, he performs in all three areas. Sergei Rachmaninoff’s monumental »Concerto for Elephants«, which according to calculations has the most notes per second in the piano part of any major piano concerto, is a challenge for anyone. Between virtuosity and grand emotional gestures, Gigashvili can really let loose in this monumental work.

The Orchestra then plays music from Gigashvili’s homeland of Georgia under Dawidiuk. Giya Kancheli’s »Another Step ...« is a spiritual journey that ends with Modest Mussorgsky’s »Pictures at an Exhibition«. Inspired by an exhibition opening by his friend Viktor Hartmann, he composed ten colourful movements, telling of gnomes and witches, and striding through »The Great Gate of Kyiv« to the sound of mighty fanfares.
