The Brussels Philharmonic, steeped in tradition, was founded in 1935 and is one of Europe’s leading orchestras. As a former radio orchestra, it is dedicated to recording important film scores and is known worldwide for this. These recordings have won prestigious awards such as the Golden Globe Award, Oscar and César. On its 90th anniversary, the orchestra made its debut at the Elbphilharmonie and was enthusiastically celebrated by the audience and press.

The following year, the top orchestra returns to the Elbphilharmonie to present another thrilling programme. The solo highlights of the evening are violinist Andrea Cicalese, cellist Hayoung Choi and pianist Filippo Gorini, all three of whom are among the most outstanding young artists of our time. Together, they will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s popular »Triple Concerto« in their Elbphilharmonie debut.

The festive matinee on Ascension Day will open with one of the most famous works in music history – the overture to »The Magic Flute« by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The finale, conducted by Oscar Jockel, will be Franz Schubert’s cheerful Fifth Symphony. The young, up-and-coming conductor Oscar Jockel was assistant conductor with the Berliner Philharmoniker from 2022 to 2024. Since then, he has conducted renowned orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
