“BETON” delves into the world of skateparks, exploring their architecture, use, and creative expression. At the intersection of breakdancing and skateboarding, the piece utilizes reliefs and curves, revealing the physical and poetic power of these urban spaces and questioning how bodies move, encounter, and reinvent themselves within them. The performers explore the skatepark's forms and volumes, playing with the expansiveness and confines of the terrain, and creating choreographic compositions. Members of the local skateboarding community will also participate in the performance.

Julien Carlier, born in Brussels, began his artistic journey with intensive breakdancing training while pursuing a master's degree in physiotherapy. A self-taught artist, he developed his choreographic language through interdisciplinary exchange and collaborative projects. Engaging with contemporary dance, his approach combines the virtuosity of hip-hop with an exploration of intimacy and sensitivity. His creations fuse dance with other artistic disciplines, expanding the boundaries of movement and perception. Since 2015, Julien Carlier has been developing work that has garnered international acclaim. He has participated in prestigious training programs and was resident choreographer at Charleroi Danse from 2020 to 2023. He is currently an associate artist at the Théâtre de Liège (2024-2028).
