Three individualists, an unusual combination of instruments and a musical programme that sparkles with joy and rhythmic finesse. BEATrio, the new jazz project by Béla Fleck, Edmar Castañeda and Antonio Sánchez, combines strong melodies, dense harmonies and groovy sound experiments.
Béla Fleck, who most recently thrilled audiences at the Elbphilharmonie with his programme »My Bluegrass Heart« in 2024, is considered one of the best banjo players ever – at home in all genres from bluegrass to classical. Edmar Castañeda, known for his energy and symphonic harp sound, also performed at the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall with his own quartet. Antonio Sánchez, on the other hand, made film history with his solo soundtrack for »Birdman« and is one of the most influential jazz drummers of our time.
What sets BEATrio apart is the creative harmony of three individualists who develop their music together and constantly reinvent it on stage. Whether jazzy improvisation, Latin American rhythms or virtuoso soundscapes: genre boundaries are irrelevant – only the musical adventure counts.
