LOIS BARTEL
RESUMPTION | SOLO PERFORMANCE
How do you tell the story of an event that throws all the usual order into disarray? In her solo show BÄRENLAND, Lois Bartel invites you to join her in chasing a story that constantly reinvents itself.
Inspired by Nastassja Martin's account of a life-threatening encounter with a bear and the subsequent hospital stays ("Believing in the Wild"), she takes us on a theatrical field exploration. She interweaves memories of her own formative experience with Martin's story, allowing the body itself to become territory. Autobiographical and fictional elements, dreams and waking reality, merge seamlessly. The storytelling, in fragile compositions of sound, language, image, and movement, becomes a performative strategy of reappropriation and transformation.
