Asya Fateyeva / Aris Quartett
- Classical Music
A »Long Night of the String Quartet« brought them together: the great, universally acclaimed saxophonist Asya Fateyeva and the Aris Quartet, which has made an equally brilliant start in the concert world, immediately felt a special artistic attraction and promptly made plans together. They are now celebrating their quintet debut with the Hamburg Chamber Music Friends at the Elbphilharmonie and are preparing a highly exciting programme with a distinctly jazzy flavour.
Excellent compositions for saxophone and string quartet by Daniel Schnyder, who is well established on the New York music scene, and Anders Koppel, who lives in Copenhagen, create an intoxicating fusion of classical forms and jazzy content. And arrangements of works by Dmitri Shostakovich show that the Russian master also developed a great admiration for jazz.
