Highlights

  • Time travel into Hamburg's dark past
  • With a professional actress

A spine-chilling historical experience! On a 90-minute interactive tour professional actors take you on a fascinating journey into Hamburg's dark and insalubrious past, from the pirate Störtebeker and the great fire of 1842 to the Inquisition and the plague. With special effects and two exciting rides, this close-up encounter brings the more grisly parts of Hamburg's history to life.

Since the year 2000, the Hamburg Dungeon has been bringing the dark sides of Hamburg's history to life in an entertaining way: professional actors slip into historical roles and take visitors on a thrilling and humorous journey through over 600 years of the city's past with interactive shows. Thanks to impressively realistic sets and cinematic special effects, guests become part of Hamburg’s eerie historical events in eleven different stage shows. Visitors witness, for example, the Great Fire of 1842, the execution of pirate Störtebeker, or the infamous Hamburg prison “Santa Fu”. Adventurous guests can also experience a rush of adrenaline in Hamburg’s only indoor free-fall tower, while the storm surge of 1717 is reimagined in Northern Germany’s only indoor water ride—where no one stays dry.
